Lorenzo leaned over the table, glaring at the man in the orange jumpsuit.

“Your guys kidnapped her, and I want her back.”

Charlie leaned back in his chair. “That’s not what she told my brother, Pack. She thanked him for ‘saving’ her from you and told him she wasn’t sure what you would do to her when you were that angry.”

“I filed a missin’ person’s report with the police.”

“You don’t say? How’d your mobbed-up crew feel about that?”

“They freaked the fuck out. How do you think they’d react to somethin’ like that?”

Charlie stared at him blankly.

“We had a misunderstandin’.”

“I’ll say. She paid me a little visit and asked for my advice on how to handle those agents who were pushin’ her. Told her to refuse to cooperate, but they apparently told her they’d keep me until my full term was served if she didn’t help them. I told her I was fine with that outcome.”

Lorenzo sat down. “Tiffany already told me why she did it. I just want her back.”

“She’s afraid of you.”

“I won’t hurt her, you ass.”

“Leave her alone.”

“You want war?”

“Don Carlo ain’t going to war over your love life and you sure as hell aren’t gonna tell him all about how my sister betrayed you. Nothin’ would stop him from killing her if he thought she was a rat. He might even kill you for bein’ the weak link in the chain or just for fun. You guys are all animals. You turn on each other with alarmin’ regularity and with very little provocation.”

“You done bein’ an ass yet? I want my woman back.”

“She’s taken up residence with one of my brothers. He probably treats her like a human bein’ instead of a fuck toy.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“She told them all about how you talk to her like she’s a whore before you hit her and give her rough sex. Apparently, you fuck her nonstop all weekend.”

“Have you fuckin’ seen your own sister, dickhead? She’s hot and never once asked me for anythin’ but more.”

“Fuck you. That’s my sister you’re talkin’ about.”

“I’m puttin’ a ring on that pretty little bitch’s finger and there ain’t nothin’ you or your club can do about that.”

“Gotta find her first, don’t you?”

“God help me before I kill you in your chair.”

“See, that’s the difference between you and me. You’d actually kill a guy chained to a goddamn table. Bikers would only kill when the cause is just and the odds are fair.”

“Save that PR shit for the reporters.”

“Don’t know what my sister sees in you.”

Raking his hand through his disheveled hair reminded him that he hadn’t showered or changed clothes since Cheryl had turned up missing. “You’re not catchin’ me at my best.”

“If you say so.”

“Fuck, just tell your sister to call me. I understand why she did what she did. I need her...”

Glancing into the other man’s uncaring face he broke.

“Just fuckin’ forget it, asshole. I’ll find her myself if I have to visit every goddamn brother in every chapter from here to the West Coast.
